Hypertension
Hypertension, commonly referred to as "high blood pressure", is a medical condition where the blood pressure rises above the normal levels of 120/75. Blood pressures that are higher tend to change the ability of the heart to contract adequately, leading to heart failure. The effects of high blood pressure on the blood vessels and kidney are also cause for higher mortality.
High blood pressure affects I in 4 American adults. One of the best methods of maintaining blood pressure at an optimal level is to reduce the blood fats to the ideal level. Hypertension is mainly caused by high blood fats and high blood sugar, and therefore we must concentrate on lowering the blood fats and the blood sugar. Even small elevations in the blood sugar after meals are harmful and should be avoided to maintain a safe level of heart function.

- Exercise
- Reducing salt intake
